My name is Megan Carroll and I am a junior Biology major at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I plan on attending PA school after I graduate in spring 2021. The most interesting thing that has happened to me in college is being given the opportunity to conduct research at the Bowles Center for Alcohol Studies. I work for Besheer Lab, which researches the neurobiological effects of alcohol and nicotine in an animal model, as well as the results of elevated corticosteroid levels on amount of alcohol intake. I am currently working with a postdoctorate on the neurobiological effects of prenatal exposure to different amounts of synthetic cannabinoids and alcohol and how these effects translate into an adolescent/adult models. I enjoy getting to work with rats every day, it is a good way to start my morning!
